Job Description
The Business Development Director (BDD) will be charged with developing new revenue opportunities for Navigant Consulting’s Energy practice. The primary target areas will be on the Energy Efficiency, Transmission and Clean Energy industries. The BDD will build relationships and engage in activity designed to generate qualified leads, which will then be closed by NCI practitioners with support from the BDD. The position will require supporting our national business development outreach initiatives, which will require the BDD to initiate and organize meetings and phone calls with prospects, prepare letters and email, participate in preparation of sales collateral, and will require substantial phone and meeting skills.
Qualifications:
Due to the sophisticated nature of our clientele, the BDD role requires high level credentials and strong interpersonal skills, but not necessarily seniority. Candidates will have excellent academic credentials, as well as demonstrated writing, phone and meeting skills. Advanced degrees, such as JD or MBA, and/or prior sales or business development experience are all a plus, but no one of these absolutely required. Candidates should have a minimum of eight years of relevant experience. Experience working in a professional services firm is a plus, but also not required. The candidates should be highly motivated, meticulous and energetic and willing to work within in a team structure. The job requires close attention to detail, including careful record keeping with regard to all sales activity. The ability to travel is required.
