Job Description:
The Online Merchandise Manager is responsible for meeting planned sales and gross margin goals for their designated area of merchandise sold online.
The objectives will be met by increasing online conversion through online analytics, user experience, and on and off-site merchandising and increasing attachment by improving cross-sells and other cross merchandising opportunities. This position reports directly to the Divisional Merchandise Manager and has management responsibility for Multi-channel Merchandisers. This position works closely with the management team, merchandise planning team, promotional planning team, operational team and the merchandising support team to significantly improve the profitability and maximize shareholder value.
Scope:
This position requires heavy interaction within Customer Direct, FLS, CCN, Logistics, IT, Project Management as well as outside partners. This position will require a person who can create and build a business on sears.com and /or kmart.com, with current/new processes, while leveraging the merchandise, processes, and assets from the FLS. The position is responsible for meeting the sales plan within their respective categories online. They also are responsible for meeting their revenue, expense and profit plans. This position requires the ability to mange multiple, detailed tasks with urgency and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
• Execute sales and margin plans.
• Optimize online navigation and presentation based on analytics (click-path, traffic, conversion, etc.).
• Review site traffic, conversion, and average selling price each day. Based on results, adjust marketing, navigation and site traffic drivers accordingly.
• Customize the SHC website(s) based on customer experiences. Implement guided selling by creating engaging online ads and emails, product content and descriptions, and item carousel updates.
• Provide guidance and recommendations for off-site merchandising assets to drive traffic to the sites (paid search, affiliate marketing, etc.)
• Create appropriate cross-sell and up-sell opportunities throughout the site. Monitor performance and adjust accordingly.
• Identify and recommend new site content and experiences to address customer needs. Work with User Experience team to develop relevant online experience for product category based on customer insights.
• Oversee item creation for full-line store products. Includes, but not limited to, photography, attributing, and taxonomy.
• Collaborate with the store and catalog team to present and sell merchandise through print catalogs.
• Review competitive websites to evaluate site merchandise, promotional tactics, customer experience, and product presentation and translate findings into executable online programs.
• Establish collaborative relationships with full-line store buying teams and inventory teams to ensure availability and the timely delivery of merchandise.
• Ensure promotional online execution accuracy (pricing, ads, deals, online experience, etc.)
• Coach and develop Multi-channel Merchandiser to ensure growth and readiness for next level position
• Drives compliance and standards with processes, policies, tools, and associates within the group.
Skill/Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university; or four years related experience and/ or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong product and analytical skills
• Prior e-commerce experience desired
• Multi-tasking capabilities
• Demonstrated leadership and decision making skills
• Proficiency in the use of desktop applications and Windows-based programs
• Retail math literacy and application of concepts to daily operations
