Monday thru Friday 8 am - 5 pm.

Position Summary:

The Registered Vascular Technologist is an experienced ultrasound sonographer specializing in Vascular Ultrasound with the knowledge and skills fundamental to performing all non-invasive vascular procedures. The Registered Vascular Technologist produces and evaluates ultrasound images and related data that are used by the Vascular Surgeons to render appropriate discretion and judgment in their clinical examination of patients. The Registered Vascular Technologist demonstrates strong customer service skills in concert with DuPage Medical Group’s C.A.R.E values. This position prohibits providing medical advice to patients.

Position Requirements

Key Responsibility Areas:

**Depending on Practice site Requirements, an incumbent in this position may not perform all of the key responsibilities listed below. However, it is expected that at least 80% of the responsibilities are performed for this job. Travel to other sites may be required.


Patient and Appointment Preparation:
Prepares examination rooms for patient visits, including cleaning, sterilizing, and stocking supplies. Escorts patients to exam room and obtains pertinent information for patient/exam documentation, billing and coding.

Non-Invasive Testing:
Performs all non-invasive vascular testing in accordance with the Vascular Laboratory’s Policy and Procedure Manual, ICAVL standards, OSHA regulations and HIPAA guidelines. 

Provides Preliminary Results:
Utilizes appropriate DataCheckTM  application to document patient demographic information, including mandatory encounter details such as primary indication for testing, diagnosis (ICD-9 codes), CPT codes and referring provider. Develops a “preliminary impression” based on the data obtained and communicates any finding or pathology requiring immediate attention to the Vascular Surgeons.

Hyperspace Entry:
Chooses appropriate test(s) based on CPT code and enters mandatory encounter details such as the most appropriate diagnosis  (ICD-9 code) and the referring provider. Collaborates with the administrative staff to resolve any billing and coding issues related to non-invasive vascular testing.

Quality Assurance:
Collaborates with Lead Registered Vascular Technologist as needed in maintaining ICAVL accreditation as well as the periodic reaccreditation process.

**Performs all other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Training Required:

Associate degree in ultrasound or certifications from an accredited ultrasound diagnostic school. At least 3 years experience in an accredited non-invasive vascular laboratory. Current Registry by ARDMS for Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
