Job Description:











The Cook is responsible for providing support for the dietary manager by preparing and cooking
meals in compliance with dietary, departmental and regulatory standards in alignment with
Franciscan Ministries (FMI) policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:


  • Prepares, cooks and delivers balanced and nutritious meals as directed by supervisor
    and in accordance with regulatory standards.

  • Performs duties in alignment with FMI policies and Food Service Model, property
    objectives, state licensure requirements and food/sanitation guidelines.

  • Interacts with residents during mealtime to solicit feedback on the quality of services
    and meals presented.

  • Directs line staff in the absence of the dietary manager.

  • Attends, participates and contributes in departmental staff meetings addressing
    resident needs and concerns.

  • Supports and collaborates with other departments to provide a seamless continuum of
    resident care.


Qualifications:Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • One year demonstrated experience as a cook in a food service environment,
    preferably in a health care setting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of basic nutrition and food service terminology.

  • Strong self-management and organization skills.

  • Effective leadership and supervision skills.

  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills with emphasis in weights and measures.

  • Strong multi-tasking abilities with the ability to handle competing deadlines, flexible and adaptable in a constantly changing environment.

  • Ability to effectively handle difficult and

  • Fire safety, first aide and dietary training are required within 90 days of hire.
