OVERALL JOB DUTIES:


The Web Developer is responsible for maintenance and development of the Evanston Township High School (ETHS) public web site and intranet. Web Developer also works with teachers in the maintenance and development of Teacher Web pages. Additionally, the Web Developer works closely with the Information Systems Manager to meet other programming needs of the school.


 


EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:


·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required.


·         Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with clients.


·         Excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines



  • Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, math, and ability to proofread work. 

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment. 

  • Inclination to respond promptly to support-related email, phone calls, and other electronic communications. 

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized approach to work activities. 

  • 3-5 years experience as a Web Developer. 

  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office applications.


Technical Experience Requirements:



  • Design and development of web-based software solutions using classic ASP, JavaScript, and ASP.NET required. 

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database design for applications required. 

  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint strongly preferred. 

  • Experience with .NET programming, VB.NET or C# preferred.

  • Some experience with Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Acrobat a plus.


 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Maintain and develop ETHS public web site and intranet. 

  • Communicate clearly and follow up with teachers, staff, and administrators. 

  • Document procedures, processes, and organization of ETHS web site and intranet. 

  • Provide training and support for teachers with their teacher SharePoint web pages. 

  • Provide support to administrative office with their web pages. 

  • Assist Information Systems Manager with other projects as needed. 

  • Participate in the Information Services Team as an effective team member. 

  • As needed, troubleshoot problems with the public web site or intranet. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
