Position Summary:
Responsibilities include, communicating with clients on a consistent basis regarding their needs; hiring, training, and mentoring staff; serving as team leader; aligning staff skills with the work to be done; quality assurance; identifying development opportunities for staff; managing staff workloads; modeling and instilling customer-service focus; ensuring that hardware and software requirements are met; managing vendor relationships.
Position Responsibilities:
Collaborate with clients to identify needs and take the necessary steps to ensure the needs are being met by design staff. This may involve regular and/or informal meetings with client leaders; gathering feedback from individuals or groups in a collaborative setting; obtaining feedback from the design team and/or other staff.
Model and foster a strong customer-service focus for the design staff. This includes sharing a vision of what winning customer service looks like with the design team and providing mentoring and training on what they can do on a day-to-day basis to ensure their customer service is at a high level.
Hire and train design staff. Interview candidates, create training plans, establish short- and long-term goals for new staff and monitor them. Work with director to identify areas (e.g., brand identity development) requiring additional training of existing staff.
Maintain an understanding of costs and budgets associated with graphic design production processes. Participate in the budget development process.
Responsible for staff performance evaluations. This includes the steps involved in the formal process of setting goals, expectations, and measuring performance. It also includes identifying development opportunities for staff and ensuring that their skills are aligned with the work to be done.
Responsible for quality control of projects created by the design team. This includes creating and maintaining a system to monitor quality that may include reviewing finished products, improving existing processes, or creative thinking about other aspects of design staff's work.
Work with director and/or internal teams to identify new business opportunities for the design team. This involves identifying client needs and the ways in which the design team can meet those needs.
Monitor infrastructure needs on an ongoing basis to ensure hardware and software is enabling staff to fully meet the business needs of clients. This includes maintaining knowledge of recent developments in hardware and software.
Manage vendor relationships including printers, freelance resources, and MAC support specialists.
Requirements;
· Bachelor's degree in graphic design is required.
· Minimum of five years of experience in graphic design for print and
· electronic products.
· Management experience that demonstrates the ability to lead, manage, guide, and inspire team members.
· Knowledge of InDesign and InCopy; Illustrator, and Photoshop in a MAC environment.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
· Some knowledge of Web design, brand development, and experience in vendor
management.
· Must be an open communicator who has a proven ability to work effectively in a
flexible, cross- functional environment.
