We are looking for a Commodity Manager to join a dynamic team of individuals who are creating Gas Detection Sensor Technology in Lincolnshire, Illinois.  This is a growing industry and we would like you to be a part of it.

If you have been making decisions on procuring a variety of parts and services including but not limited to mechanical, electrical and electronic hardware, subassemblies, tooling and proto-types for new products in a manufacturing environment.  Have had to negotiate lowest total cost, review bill of material's and make recommendations to reduce component supply risks.  We would like to speak with you!  


 


If you would like to be an integral member of the Strategic Sourcing Team working closely with New Product Development Teams, Managers, Engineers, Commodity Managers, Regional Commodity Managers and Supplier Quality Engineers to maximize the effectiveness, compliance and day-to-day management of suppliers that support NPI initiatives.  Please apply!



As the NPI Commodity Manager you will:

• Support development and NPI Product alignment to preferred parts list and preferred supplier lists
• Negotiate best pricing and deliveries to meet the cost and timing targets of the NPI programs


• Partner with all Lines of Business, Marketing Manager and New Product Development Team to understand functionality, timing and requirements for projects
• Suggest component cost reduction opportunities, component reuse, and part consolidation
• Foster ESI programs with key suppliers
• Collaborate with the NPI and Regional Commodity Managers, recommend approved suppliers for specific commodities or parts
• Act as Integrated Supply Chain Project Manager to ensure timely product launch
• Provide regular project status updates to the Strategic Sourcing, Supply Management, Manufacturing and Engineering leadership
• Work closely with and support Commodity Managers by providing feedback on Bill of Material reviews for part or component obsolesce and help develop supply chain risk mitigation plan
• Provide backup from time to time for any of the other Commodity Managers.
• Keep internal customers informed of supplier delivery and business issues


• Assure and assist with timely and cost effective delivery of purchased materials across International borders.
• Conduct purchase order negotiations
• Visit suppliers as necessary and appropriate within scope of job responsibilities
• Resolve invoices discrepancies


• Measure strategic sourcing Key Performance Metrics



 

 

 



Qualifications


 

 

Basic Qualification:


 


·         Bachelor's Degree in Business and/or Engineering


·         5 years experience purchasing and/or strategic sourcing, supply chain, materials management





Additionally Desired:


 



  • Demonstrated manufacturing and/or engineering or sourcing engineering background

  • Documented procurement experience with electronic and mechanical components

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Successfully track and record effective communications across internal functional groups

  • Experience in leading multiple projects and demonstrated Project Management Skills meeting deadlines and working across functional teams

  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal customers and Honeywell suppliers

  • Able to read blueprints, interpret drawing and specification requirements

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Experienced in matrix organization

  • Highly developed computer skills with experience in using the Microsoft Office Suite of products

  • Ability to support 5-10 new products while supporting 3 lines of business

  • Direct hands-on experience with SAP a plus

  • Certified PMP, Six Sigma Green or Black belt, and Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
