Job Description:

Summary       


 


Work with Senior Operations personnel to develop all service provider and subcontractor relationships necessary for company operations throughout the United States.  Establish selection practices and procedures.  Manage ongoing assessment of all service providers.  Negotiate pricing relative to the specific geographical market.  Act as a liaison with management, sales and operations to deliver proper specifications, quotations, contract terms and cost margins.


 


Responsibilities


 


·        Research and evaluate subcontractors based on price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability and the service provider’s  reputation and history. 


·        Interview service providers and visit them occasionally to examine and learn about products, services and prices.


·        Assess and build annual sourcing initiatives that provide detailed service commodity strategies that identify objectives, leverage spending initiatives and result in exceptional time lines.


·        Ensure continuity of service providers, implement consistent methodologies and tools to deliver improved service quality and continuously optimize costs.


·        Will be responsible for proactively identifying underlying business trends that impact supply, defining alternate actions and implementing solutions.


·        Will be responsible for monitoring and managing vendor performance with Senior Operations personnel, working across operation divisions to identify process and service improvement opportunities, reducing internal service costs and reducing costs to customers.


·        Negotiate yearly unit costing with key subcontractors in conjunction with Director of National Operations.


·        Analyze price proposals, cost reports and other data to determine the reasonability of price and contractor capabilities.


·        Solicit and negotiate bids, maintaining a working technical knowledge of the services to be purchased.


·        Review market, price, delivery conditions and trends to determine present and future negotiation tactics.


·        Deal with service providers when serious variations arise in delivery, quality, price or conditions of service provided in relation to the quoting process.   


·        Check price histories on a regular basis to provide information on price variances.


·        Communicate with staff, users and service providers to discuss defective or unacceptable services and determine corrective action.


·        Support Site Engineers and estimators in preparations of estimates by contacting service providers for budgetary pricing for labor, equipment and materials.


·        Partner with the client and company management to drive both immediate and sustained benefits to the client.


·        Attend meetings, tradeshows, conferences, conventions and seminars to network with people in other purchasing departments.


·        Comply with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.


·        Follow environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with US laws


·        Continually analyze and evaluate service provider offerings to ensure that the best quality products are purchased in a timely manner and at competitive prices.


·        Conduct Preferred Supplier (Alliance Member) performance reviews and meetings, manage supplier scorecards, contract compliance and service obligations in partnership with the Senior Operations Team.


·        Perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes necessary for positive growth.


·        Ensure that accurate and concise departmental records are maintained.


·        Proactively manage internal and external customer expectations.


·        Develop innovative ideas and incorporate them effectively into work processes.


 


Requirements:


 


·        Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or a related field. 


·        4-6 years of experience in strategic sourcing for services.


·        Construction background preferred


·        Contract and vendor performance management expertise.


·        Excellent negotiating skills.


·        Strong organizational skills.


·        Strong analytical skills.


·        Must have strong math skills, including geometry.


·        Ability to communicate with all levels of management.


·        Ability to communicate with vendors, technical resources and customers.


·        Ability to promote harmonious working relationships with Company staff and outside business representatives.


·        Must be able to work in a schedule driven environment.  Timing is a critical function.


·        Must have a high degree of professional integrity, ethics and confidentiality.


·        High degree of ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.


·        Must be able to manage budgets and avoid delay costs.


·        Must be able to prioritize multiple projects in order to meet required deadlines.


·        Travel throughout the continental United States from time to time as required.


·        Strong verbal and written skills.


·        Must have high level of customer service.


·        Ability to read drawings, use of AutoCAD a plus.


·        Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
