SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Position is a key interface with customers and the Knowles team (Sales, R&D, Product Management). Position will develop specifications and design requirements for new ASICs and new microphones, and interface with the customers with respect to their development. Provide competitive analysis producing electrical and acoustic evaluations and product characterizations. Provide technical support to customer applications. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity. Need latitude for independent action or decision. Need for clarity of thought, ability to breakdown problems and drive execution.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage customer based technical development projects. Requires good planning, organizational skills
2. Interface with demanding customers to understand technical needs. Breakdown customer problems into technical elements. Provide design team with understanding of customer requirements and an actionable technical plan.
3. Define specifications for new ASICs, MEMS, circuits and conduct design reviews with customers.
4. Coordinates activities with other engineers as well as lab technicians within various stages of the overall project, in order to meet completion dates.
5. Develop evaluation boards, test setups and test procedure for new MEMS microphones.
6. Provide technical assistance and advice to Sales/Marketing and Quality Assurance in supporting customer applications.
7. Should be comfortable in a lab environment. Experience with test and measurement equipment is important.
8. Issues data transmittals and technical reports to international sales groups, marketing, engineering, and end customer. Willing to work diligently on communicating complex technical information.
9. Work with electronic test systems focusing on analog, digital, and RF design.
10. Key success factor: achieving customer design wins with new and existing MEMS microphones.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Director-Product Management
POSITION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
MS/MA or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with +5 years experience in analog or mixed signal design, signal and system analysis. Coursework or work experience in acoustics highly desirable. Must have strong communication skills for interfacing with various internal departments and external customers. Project management skills desirable. Applicant should be self motivated and be able to work independently within a multi-disciplinary team. Approximately 30% travel required. Travel may be more or less depending on customer demands.
