General Duties:
The Rail Freight Planner responsibilities will include:
§ Preparation of evaluations for the effective use of transportation infrastructure in goods/freight movement for industrial supply chains
§ Writing, compiling and composing report sections documenting freight operations and infrastructure use , drawing upon engineering, planning, economic and finance tools for client study submittals
§ Supporting and developing client relationships as well as contributing to SOQ and RFP submittals
Specific Requirements:
§ Planning / logistics background including some operations and work experience with the infrastructure that moves freight; Engineering experience a plus
§ 10 to 15 years of experience, with at least 5 to 10 in industry, eg., railroad, port authority, shipping company, logistics / freight forwarder. Managing freight movement for a major heavy industry would be a plus.
§ Experience in at least two major market areas, e.g., Oakland, Portland, Seattle, Great Lakes, Houston, Norfolk to Jacksonville etc., of North America, and two market sectors, e.g., bulk material, manufacturing, petrochemicals, etc.
§ Experience in the private sector outside of consulting
§ BS/BA in Planning or Engineering as a minimum, MS/MBA a real plus
§ Active participation in at least one professional association forum
