High School Classroom Teacher-LBS1/Special Education

Park Forrest Academy [PFA], a member of The Menta Group is an alternative safe school for kindergarten through twelfth grade students who are at-risk of suspension or expulsion resulting from special education emotional and behavioral service needs that interfere with learning needs. The school’s curriculum and credit earning system is aligned with local district schools sending students to this program thus allowing for seamless transitions from and to the students’ home schools. PFA was established to positively impact the academic and social-emotional competencies of students referred to the program, and offer a variety of school-to-work options for older special education students. The school’s modern facilities, talented administration/staff encourage young people to learn in an ideal academic setting for adolescents who are preparing to become both literate and self-sufficient. High school teachers are needed for 7-12 grade part of the program serving no more than thirteen students per classroom with a teacher assistant and a very structured classroom based upon clear expectations.

Qualifications:
· Special Education certified at the high school level
· Ability to teach a self-contained classroom within all basic instructional areas
· Ability to work a regular school day and the ability to work with youth with emotional/behavioral/academic difficulties
· Employment is contingent upon a background check, employment physical and drug screen
