Special EducationTeacher-Immediate Openings Thompson Instructional Center (TIC) located in Joliet, Illinois is an affiliate of The Menta Group (www.thementagroup.org/). It is a Special Education Therapeutic Day School with an elementary and middle school academic programs, and clinical services provided for at-risk and behavior/social-emotional/developmentally disabled children living in the City of Joliet/Will County, Illinois. Small class size of ten/thirteen students, intensive clinical services with a trained classroom aid, and a competently trained staff of clinical educators, social workers, and psychologist combine to make TIC a positive and dynamic place to learn academics and work on social-emotional-behavioral issues.

The emphasis at TIC is placed on structure, consistency, and reinforcement of new behaviors while engaging within a clinical model emphasizing teamwork and creativity to provide a positive environment for our students to excel within each school day. LSA offers our k-8 students a program with a variety of hands on, community based learning, real life options for problem at-risk special education students to function within clinical–education program in preparing to become both literate and self-sufficient in the everyday day world of work, family, and friends.

This position offers an access to medical, dental, vision plans, 403(b), sick pay, holiday pay, and personal days. The salary range is comparable for the position and area, depending upon certification and qualifications. Background: TIC is a public-private partnership between Joliet Public School District 86 and Special Education Services.

Qualifications:

State Certification/emergence approval in Special Education

Teaching State Certification and a willingness to take identified classes working toward special education state approval.

Ability to teach a self-contained classroom within all basic instructional areas.

Ability to work a regular school day and with high risk special needs students.

Dependability in attendance and punctuality.

Ability to act tactfully under stress.

Flexibility to change in routines.
