QUALIFICATIONS:


1.         High School diploma or equivalent


2.                  Demonstrated interest in and understanding of high school students


3.                  Ability to develop rapport and work with students and faculty


4.                  Must meet the qualifications for a teacher aide as required by the rules and regulations set by the Illinois State Board of Education


5.                  Demonstrated proficiency in a second language as applicable


6.                  Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills as applicable


7.                  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate


 


REPORTS TO:                      Building Administrator


 


JOB GOAL:                           To assist the teacher(s) and student(s) in meeting District Goals.


 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


The responsibilities of the Teacher Aide may vary greatly depending upon the specification assignment.  Under the direction of a certified staff member, responsibilities will be assigned which may include monitoring student(s), providing educational assistance, performing clerical duties, supporting vocational needs and other activities related to the individual needs of the students.


 


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


1.                  Assist staff and student(s) in maintaining behaviors representative of a safe/orderly physical environment, which is conducive to learning.


2.                  Assist student(s) in learning and using strategies needed to reinforce academic/vocational skills based upon individual needs.


3.                  Assist student(s) in hygiene, e.g. toileting, feeding, grooming, lifting, etc., and/or practice of self-care activities of students(s).


4.                  Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills with parents/staff/student(s) and model behavior that reflects respect for learning.


5.                  Perform clerical duties relating to meeting needs of students(s).


6.                  Perform other job related responsibilities as assigned by building administrator or classroom teacher.


 


TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:           Ten (10) Months


6.5  hours per day


Hours could range from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.


 


SALARY:                                           Per Support Staff Association Contract
