Qualifications:        


 


1.      Master’s Degree


2.      Illinois Type 75 Administrative certificate/or enrolled in a program leading to an administrative certificate.


3.      Valid certification as a high school teacher.


4.      Recommend but not required special education certification.


5.      Demonstrated leadership in working with students, staff, parents and public.


6.      Experience with Special Education students desirable.


7.      Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.


 


Reports to:   Building Principal and/or Assistant Principals


 


Job Goals:              


 


1.      To help students achieve the fullest benefits from all program(s) services and opportunities of the school.


2.      Assumes responsibility for maintaining school discipline and enforcing attendance policies.


 


Performance Responsibilities:


 


1.      Works in close relationship with other Deans of Students so there is the same interpretation of school rules regarding all discipline and attendance policies.


2.      Participates in the development and implementation of policies to effect positive student behavior in the school.


3.      Supervises attendance, accounting procedures and provides leadership in developing related practices.


4.      Works cooperatively with the professional staff in all concepts of educational improvement.


5.      Is skillful in both oral and written communication.


6.      Assists in the interpretation of school, and district programs, policies and procedures of the Board of Education and superintendent to students, parents, staff and superintendent.


7.      Participates in the development and implementation of school practices in all areas with other administrators in a management approach that is goal related.


8.      Participates in the coordination, implementation and supervision of co-curricular activities.


9.      Works with staff, community and government agencies on problems relating to drug abuse, truancy from school and other related education problems.


10.    Provides guidance and counseling to students, parents and teachers on problems relating to student behavior and attendance.


                11.    Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with


                        campus control and security.


12.    Assists in the supervision of all school functions.


13.    Recommends practices designed to maintain safe, healthful school facilities.


14.    Works and counselors, nurses and teachers in areas of pupil personnel services.


15.    Maintains accurate records of disciplinary actions.


16.    Participates in the implementation of state and federal programs and reports.


17.    In cooperation with the other Dean of Students, assumes responsibility for the building operation when the principal and assistant principal(s) are away from the school.


18.    Performs duties and other responsibilities as the principal may assign.


 


 


Terms of Employment:     10 Months

Salary:                 Consistent with the salary established by the Board of Education for the Dean of Students position.


 


Evaluation:        Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
