Job Description:

Roosevelt University's College of Pharmacy, seeks candidates for the Chair of Biopharmaceutical Sciences. Reporting to the Dean, this position provides unique opportunities for building a new academic program, creating an innovative patient-centered curriculum by employing various instructional design technologies and pedagogical approaches, as well as shaping departmental scholarship.

The Chair of Biopharmaceutical Sciences is responsible for faculty recruitment and retention, departmental leadership and mentorship, faculty evaluations, budgetary preparation, and scholarship development among departmental faculty. The Chair provides vision in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service within the department, as well as teaching in his/her area of expertise.

The Chair will be instrumental in fostering collaboration among faculty from the disciplines of biology, chemistry, immunology, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical sciences within the college as well as collaborative efforts with other colleges in course delivery and scholarly activities. This individual along with others will be responsible for facilitating the instructional design technologies and pedagogical activities used in the delivery of the integrated curriculum of pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacotherapeutics.

This person is responsible for identifying extramural funding sources for faculty, establishing a research plan for the department, and stimulating scholarly agendas across the department and into external research centers.

Candidates must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and group communication skills and excel in working within a shared governance model of faculty and administrators. The position is a full-time 12-month appointment. Individuals with a passion for the profession of pharmacy, a collegial approach to their work, and an entrepreneurial-sprit are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold an earned terminal degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD) qualifying for an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor and demonstrate a record of successful academic leadership.

5-7 years of experience is preferred.
