The ETL Developer will be responsible for creating, updating and maintaining ETL logic via the Business Objects Data Integrator tool that feeds the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The ETL Developer should have experience in both creating new ETL logic via an ETL tool, learning the logic and design of existing ETL processes, and being able to run and support them in an automated Production environment pulling nightly data out of multiple operational systems. The ETL Developer must also be able to architect a proper solution which optimizes ETL processes and the EDW data model for future data reuse and scalability. The ETL Developer also has a familiarity with the end-to-end software development process, and has the flexibility to work in software projects that contain either a high level of rigor or the need to “fast-path” through the process without losing sight of quality or milestone dates. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate with business and IT representatives at all levels to derive data requirements, translate them into design specifications that can meet requirements and scale for the future in the EDW environment, and implement quality, well tested solutions. The ideal candidate will also enjoy working in a small but growing IT organization, where outstanding work habits and quality product will be recognized by senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating/maintaining ETL logic using the Business Objects Data Integrator tool.
- Performing Production Support for ETL jobs, and finding new opportunities to introduce automation for monitoring, scheduling and restart/recovery for overnight batch pulls from operational systems..
- Determining ETL Data Architecture and strategies to ensure ETL processes and Data Warehouse data model are optimized for data reuse and scalability.
- Understanding the EDW ETL and Data Architecture at a holistic level, what data is available across all operational systems feeding the EDW.
- Performing impact analysis on existing ETL and EDW Data Model when new ETL logic or new source systems are introduced into the data warehouse.
- Determine level of effort for ETL work given a set of requirements, and determine estimate to complete during implementation.
- Show due diligence in all application development by well-documenting design, code and test scripts
- Regularly report status, issues and risks to management.
- Work with user groups to review design, assumptions, and quality test of work.
- Act as the “face” of the EDW to business groups performing business analysis and data discovery.
Required Skills & Experience:
· 5-10 years overall technology / system life cycle development background
· 3-5 years with any major ETL tool (e.g., Informatica, DataStage), ideal candidate will have experience or exposure to the Business Objects Data Integrator Tool
· 3+ years in Database Design/Development, including familiarity with SQL Server, the SQL query language and basic database administrative tasks.
· 3+ years data modeling with exposure to Data Warehouse Star Schema and OLAP concepts. Experience with a major Data Modeling tool such as ERwin or Embarcadero.
· 1+ years supporting ETL jobs in a Production Environment, including scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting and recovering overnight batch jobs
· Nice to have: 1 year of experience or exposure to real-time data architecture concepts and tools such as EAI, EII, Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) and middleware products such as IBM Tibco
· Nice to have: 1 year of experience or exposure to metadata management concepts, tools and best practices such as Master Data Management (MDM) and processes to collect/maintain/publish metadata to business and technical audiences
· Nice to have: exposure to Business Objects Universes and reporting tools (Webi, Infoview)· Nice to have: Telecomm / Cellular technology background

· End-to-end experience throughout the software development life-cycle, including laying out testable requirements, creating test scripts, documenting test results.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and communicate business requirements and technical designs across all levels of Business and IT, including analysts, management and project stakeholders
· Ability to be a fast starter and hit the ground running, taking responsibility for an existing ETL architecture running in Production, and look for opportunities for improvement as new development work comes in.
· Ability to deliver in a sometimes high stress environment with urgent priority work and aggressive due dates
· Ability to manage ones own work, including self management of multiple tasks and provide regular and on demand status to management
· Comfortable working in a small team environment and having high visibility to senior management.
