What R & D Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health
Research and Development Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing new products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices.
Will also be responsible for manageing day to day resources and for setting and aligning individual expectaions in line with business objectives and goals.

Accountabilities in this role
- Provide leadership to members of the group - Senior Principal and Principal Scientists and Engineers as well as the Technical staff
- Develop budget and resource plans to support the product/project portfolio
- Ensures resources are aligned to meet business objectives
- Contributes to functional strategy development
- Has in depth functional expertise and broad business knowledge
- Applies expertise to achieve financial and operational objectives
- Develop plans, timelines and budget for development efforts
- Contributes to the development of improved testing capabilities and protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- A minimum of 6+ years related work experience required, a minimum of 8+ years experience in research and development of materials and specifically non-woven technology desirable
- A minimum of 2+ years supervisory experience required with demonstrated leadership, organizational and project management skills and ability to drive to key project goal.
- Previous experience developing & aligning departmental goals with overall business objectives required
- Advanced degree preferred, preferably a Ph.D. in Material Science, Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry
Demonstrated knowledge of patent mapping and the utilization of IP to protect and support new growth opportunities
Detailed understanding of the product development cycles to support innovation pipeline development
Familiarity with Design Control and operational issues associated with an FDA regulated environment helpful in addition to exposure to Stage/Gate process for developing new innovative products and taking them through to commercialization
High level of proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet and project management software. (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Project).
