Conducts audits to assess effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, and efficiency of operations. The incumbent will also recommend appropriate related changes on the above to the Finance and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and the President/CEO. Responsibilities 1. Audits records of departments and interviews workers to ensure the proper recording of financial transactions and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), applicable laws and regulations. 2. Reviews and audits internal financial statements to ensure adherence to GAAP and other regulatory requirements. 3. Examines department activities for compliance with management plans and policies. 4. Inspects accounting systems to determine their efficiency and protective value. 5. Analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of efforts, extravagance, fraud or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, and management policies or procedures. 6. Prepares and submits audit findings and makes recommendations to the Finance & Audit Committee of the Board, Compliance Committee and to the CEO. 7. Conducts special studies and evaluations including suspected fraud and to develop controls for fraud prevention through the direction of the General Counsel or outside counsel. 8. Coordinates with Corporate Compliance Officer and Compliance Committee regarding issues. Qualifications 1. CPA and minimum of five to seven years recent audit experience. 2. Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 3. Management/Supervisory skills and expertise in conflict resolution required. 4. Excellence in communication and diplomacy in response to inquiries from internal customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups and /or boards of directors. 5. Problem solving skills necessary in order to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. 6. Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel and Outlook.
