JOB TITLE:  Accounting Director

 

POSITION LOCATION; Chicago, IL

                                              

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Position Responsibilities:

    * Report to the Asst. Vice President of Investment Operations and Finance and will manage the timely and accurate preparation and distribution of financial and management reporting and will have the responsibility to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidance. 
    * Monitor and report on the internal control environment.
    * Oversee and manage the preparation and coordination of the investment related portions of the SEC and Statutory quarterly and annual reports, including financial statements, footnotes, Management’s Discussions and Analysis and earnings releases.

 

Skill Required:

 

    * The position requires strong leadership, analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and technical skills.
    * This individual must possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and prioritize and deliver a high degree of accuracy under tight deadlines.
    * Individual must possess outstanding written/verbal communication skills and the ability to work with others at various levels throughout the organization.
    * The position will interact significantly with other departments, including Investment Portfolio Management, Corporate Accounting and Research, Corporate Tax, and Investment Law.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of 10+ years of experience, including 5+ years of financial reporting (SEC) experience, preferably concentrated in the financial services or investment industry.  Insurance background a plus. Knowledge of the external marketplace, understanding of financial instruments and key terminology is essential.

 

Computer Proficiency: (computer skills needed to do the job)

Strong appreciation and in-depth knowledge of technology as it relates to process and reporting solutions is a plus.  Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

 

Education:

Accounting Degree required. CPA required. CFA/MBA preferred.

 

COMPENSATION: $140,000.00 to $160,000.00 plus bonus
